FAQ

What are the other types of ejaculation conditions?

There are other types of men’s sexual health in relation to ejaculation. These sexual health conditions are:

  1. Inhibited Ejaculation – this is where a man has difficulty in ejaculating persistently. Difficulty in ejaculating is described as inhibited, retarded or delayed ejaculation. A man usually finds it difficult or impossible to ejaculate despite adequate sexual stimulation, erection or desire to orgasm. Often a man can ejaculate by masturbation or with oral sex but not intra-vaginally.
  2. Retrograde Ejaculation – This is sometimes referred to as dry ejaculation. It occurs when semen passes through the bladder neck into the bladder rather than out through the urethra.
  3. Anejaculation – this is happens when there is the absence of emission of semen into the urethra with the total absence of ejaculation. Many drugs may interfere with the ability to ejaculate or orgasm. If you have recently started taking medications and experience this, please discuss this with your doctor.
  4. Painful Ejaculation – Pain on ejaculation can arise from conditions such as prostatitis, urinary tract infection, sexually transmitted infection, masturbatory technique and seminal vesicle stones. Painful ejaculation may result in premature ejaculation (PE).
  5. Hematospermia – Blood in the ejaculate can be a frightening experience. Clots of blood may be present or the semen may have a pink colour. Usually this is benign condition which resolves in time. It may arise from a burst blood vessel in the prostate and seminal vesicle area. However, go see your doctor for assessment to rule out other medical causes and infections.
